Insurers & Insurances

There are ten groups of health insurers in the Netherlands. Each group has several different brands. You have a policy with one of these brands. Genderhealth Care and Genderhealth Clinic contact all insurer groups every year. For 2026, this resulted in:

• Rnsurers have a contract with both Care and Clinic.
• Insurers only have a contract with Care and reimburse (fully or partially) care at Clinic.
• Insurers have no contract with either Care or Clinic.

What does this mean for you?

• If you receive care from Genderhealth Care (mental health care), we apply the fixed NZa rates per session, determined by the Dutch Healthcare Authority (NZa). Non-contracted care requires prior authorization and almost always leads to additional payment.
• If you receive care from Genderhealth Clinic (medical specialist care), you pay per treatment product (DBC) the following prices:

How do you know what is reimbursed?

• Check the overview to see if your insurer has a contract.
• For insurers without a contract, there are links to their information pages and reimbursement details.
• Look on those pages for the codes for Care and Clinic to see what is covered.
• Compare the rates and check what you may need to pay yourself.
• Always contact your insurer to ask what is reimbursed. Only they can give you a definitive answer.
• Insurers set their rates based on the market rate or the average negotiation result. Based on your policy, you will then be reimbursed a percentage of this up to a maximum amount. Therefore, ask about the percentages, the maximum reimbursement and what applies to your policy.
